Engineering Academy

Welcome to the ENGINEERING Academy!

The HHS Engineering Academy was established in 2009 with 10 engineering-minded students. We have experienced tremendous growth since then, adding an additional instructor and six new courses. We have former students in a variety of professional programs and technical positions, including all disciplines of engineering. We are very proud of our students and strive to give them every advantage to achieve their personal and professional goals.  

If you are a student at Hartselle High School and are interested in pursuing a STEM career, then the Engineering Academy might be the place for you! Whether you want to pursue engineering, architecture, technical apprenticeships, computer science, drafting, or welding (to name a few!), there are opportunities awaiting you in our program!

THE ENGINEERING ACADEMY OFFERS THE FOLLOWING CLASSES:

Mrs. Amber Roy

    • Typically a 9th grade class
    • Includes credit for Career Prep A that is required for graduation

    • Typically a 10th grade class
    • Earn 6 hours of college credit at no cost to the student
    • Opportunity for industry certification in 3D CAD
    • Credit earned can be applied as an 11th or 12th grade math credit

    • Typically an 11th or 12th grade class
    • Receive an additional 0.5 quality point on GPA for this advanced level class 
    • Credit earned can be applied as an 11th or 12th grade advanced science credit

    • Typically a 12th grade class
    • Collaboration with UAH and NASA on a real NASA mission 
    • Job-shadowing opportunities

    • Open to 10th, 11th or 12th grade students
    • Semester course
    • Earn 3 hours of college credit at no cost
