Dr. Cooper began his career in education by teaching and coaching for three years in Calhoun County. Dr. Cooper became the assistant principal of Arab Primary School in 2007, and the assistant principal of Arab High School in 2011. Dr. Cooper became the principal of Arab High School in 2014. In 2018, Dr. Cooper became the principal of Hartselle High School. 

Dr. Cooper is married to Holly Goforth Cooper, and they have three children:  Kati, Benjamin, and Nadia.
